Palmer, this is Beethoven's complete Sonata, Opus 27, No. There are historical notes about the work and the composer, as well as illustrations, performance suggestions regarding staccato, notes by Carl Czerny, and additional footnotes within the score. Palmer notes that "the present edition has been carefully prepared from the original autograph manuscript and the first edition. Volume III features five bagatelles, variations, two sonatinas, and several well-known independent piano works.
While Czerny's excellent fingering has been preserved, all unnecessary fingering has been removed by editor Willard A. The book begins with lessons on learning the notes and introduces students to the various technical studies of keyboard music. In this edition, the music has been widely spaced for easy reading.
